A Resource for Advisors

As an advisor to complex wealthy families and family businesses, how often have you wished you could quickly get information about areas where family members do not see eye to eye, and find a way to bring those areas to the attention of your clients in a non-threatening way?

The two Aspen Family Inventories offers you access to the private thoughts and feelings of your family business and family wealth clients. Using them, you can gather comprehensive, usable information about your clients.

What is in the Each Inventory?

Each inventory is a 100-short-answer question tool that gathers information about different perceptions of family members concerning the family, its business, and the management of its assets and wealth. Each one has five scales with ten questions in each scale.

How The Inventory Can Make A Difference:
  • Help advisors get the big picture.
  • Opens up communication about difficult issues.
  • Quickly gathers a wide range of information about strengths, challenges, and disagreements.
  • Brings a family together to discuss areas of difference.
A Dramatic Presentation for Your Clients:
The Feedback Package for you to share with your client family includes... 23 pages of detailed, color graphic and summary analysis of different response to each scale. Executive Summary of strengths and weaknesses. Comparison of results by Generation, Gender, Ownership Management & Family Role. Highlights major areas of agreement and difference.

There Are Two Inventories:

  • The Aspen Family Business Inventory helps families who are in business together to sort out the issues of communication, succession, role, work and family boundaries, effective management, and their vision of the future.
  • The Aspen Family Wealth Inventory is designed for families who have a family office, or multiple diversified assets, to assess family dynamics and the ways that family participate in decisions about wealth management.
What do you get by purchasing one of the Inventories?
    1. A method of connecting positively with everyone in the family.
    2. A precise list of
      • Family and Business strengths
      • Family and Business challenges
      • Gaps in important knowledge

    4. A list of the issues that most urgently need the families attention
    5. A list of issues that are "landmines"
    6. An objective way to establish family and business benchmarks to measure the effects your work.
The Advisor is The Guide.
The advisor guides the family through the assessment process as follows:

    3. Collect scores, send out for analysis.
